This painting is inspired by the psychological theory that nature compels reproduction by making sex intensely pleasurable. Everything in the painting appears aroused—the phallic cactuses and the vulva shells seem to entice Bunny and her partner into sex, drawing them into a kind of inescapable trance. It is designed to feel like an act of complete personal autonomy, even though it is driven by deeper biological forces.
