Obsession
“Obsession” delves into the consuming nature of romantic obsession, also known as limerence*, when emptiness leaves the mind desperate for stimulation. The painting portrays a figure alone on a bed, her body tense, her gaze distant yet fixated. Surrounding her are images of a man—real or celebrity—pinned across the walls, each photo a fragment of the object of her desire.
This relentless focus represents the way an unfulfilled life can drive the brain to fixate on someone unreachable, filling the void with a never-ending mental loop. Every detail—the red-toned lighting, the stark contrasts, and the intensity in her posture—reflects the internal hunger and restless energy of obsession.
“Obsession” is a visual exploration of desire that is both alluring and destructive: a longing that endlessly occupies the mind but can never be truly grasped, revealing how isolation and craving for connection can distort perception and consume thought.

A face becomes a fixation, a presence built from fragments—real or imagined—until it fills every quiet corner.

* Limerence is an involuntary state of intense, obsessive infatuation and romantic longing for a "limerent object" (LO), often characterized by intrusive thoughts, emotional dependency, and a desperate desire for reciprocation. Unlike healthy love, it is marked by anxiety, idealization, and often centers on an unavailable person, causing significant disruption to daily life.
